Yazirian business attire

I'm working on an adventure with a yazirian business man, and I was wondering what would a Yazirian business suit look like. Would it have sleeves? Most of the images from the rules and modules show them only wearing a set of briefs.

I would thing that the most formal ocasions require a cape.  Said capes would have excelent embroidry and trim.  They would be light wieght and thin traditionally to not hamper gliding.  When it is warm this is the cape to wear.  However they will also resort to thicker capes for warmth with hoods for the winter.

Another dress attire would be vests that drop over the sholders and clip or zip at the sides to allow them to fit within their patagium.  Their may or may not be clips, buttons, or zippers up the front as well.

Then their could be toga or tabard like garmets that have a head hole and are then held together at the waist by a belt.  Think of a long supple poncho.

Agreed.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

A set of designer sungoggles.

A sleek, silky designer "poncho." that is actually a civilian skeinsuit.

A designer belt, which is actually a power screen and power beltpack.

I think one idea we ran with in our RPG group many years ago was to not focus on clothing so much. It depended on whether the planet where the Yazirian was living was cold or not, plus we saw it more as a human thing to 'cover up' using clothing etc. So, status or job could be shown in other ways. For business personnel, we had them using braided hair of various colours, and these braids would also contain certain banded tubular jewellery that denoted certain things. It's somewhat similar in concept to the various things on dress uniforms on Earth. I did have one idea as an extension to this in which these braids were long enough to actually resemble a kind of poncho, as bundles of which were grown and decorated - a bit like dreadlocks.

I think we may have changed this once Ifshnits came along, I but I'm not sure if I remember correctly (because we had many, many various and random ideas when playing SF Laughing)

That said, light ponchos would also be good, although probably not all that useful as skeinsuits IMHO. In an a recent adventure I ran, several robots were disguised as Yazirians and ponchos were very useful for hiding their true identity - they just had to wear sungoggles and full head masks that worked okay, as long as no-one looked at them for too long ;)

Here's a yazirian businessman character I whipped up for an online game that never got off the ground:

No, I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide. Nor do I have any qualms in stating why. Tongue out

I've been thinking that Yazarian clothing would be made to enhance their gliding ability, especially on worlds with gravities of 0.9 and 1.0.

Yes, I can see Yazarians actually having some kind of protective footwear, as Shadow's picture shows, though it would allow them to use their feet for gripping things.

Might they have some kind of miniature "jet boot" -- a lightweight, compressed air thruster? It could aid them in gliding a longer distance or stopping without injury on a longer glide. Maybe some sort of gliding drag chute (a lower tech alternative)?

Just some thoughts.

I've never had the impression that Yazirians can simply fly from the ground upwards. They instead have to be at an elevation, jump and glide. Pretty much the same as sugar gliders. So boots probably wouldn't be needed.

I've also not imagined them with the sort of 'looped' wings - the kind shown in Shadow's image. This is because it seems to be ineffcient, in the sense that too much air could possibly escape. If they were more like the 'wings' of a sugar gliders, they'd also tuck against the body when not in use.

I would hope I didn't leave the impression that I thought they could fly upwards -- barring wearing a glijet.

Just to reiterate, to try to make clear, I was suggesting items that might help them glide on "higher" G planets. In this case, 0.9 and 1.0 grav worlds appear to be at the higher end of their gliding ability. There is another -- and older -- forum discussion on Yazarian gliding that makes this point. i tried to incorporate some of that information in my posting called, I think, "Jetboots Redux."

Shadow's image is better than I can draw.

FWIW I merely emulated the canon artwork for the dan. As they stretch their arms U& legs those "loops" tighten up and get closer to the body (although I imagine closer than what is depicted in the race section of yazirians).
